Kate Talks About Those Closest to You

In life the two main categories of people we interact with daily are our family and our friends.  They are our rocks.  Always there to comfort you when you're feeling down.  They are the people who make us feel special.  It doesn't mean that it's easy to be apart of a family or to keep friends.  We fight with them all of the time and these relationships come under strain which threatens to destroy them completely.  We always find though that (most of the time) we build the bridges, mend the cracks and repair those relationships which have been broken because we seem to find that we can't live our lives without family and friends.  We would be nothing without them.
Our family are the first people we know in this world.  They are the first relationships we have.  Our parents raise us, feed us and take care of us no matter how old we are.  I mean even a grown person loves a good old cuddle with their Mom right?  No doubt they are the people who we probably fight with most in the world and we always seem to say we "hate" our parents as they are being "unfair", "annoying" and "total bitches" but they are those things because they love us and don't want anything bad to happen to us.  They are only protecting us as much as they can in this big bad world.  I mean today I got into a fight with my Mum because she was snapping at me because I was in a bad mood.  I told her to "shut up" and "f*ck off" which I kind of wish I didn't say because that didn't get me anywhere good.  I hate seeing statuses on Facebook saying "Ughh I hate my parents they don't care about me" because a) your parents don't hate you and b) you shouldn't be ungrateful and mean to your parents after everything they've done for you.  We should all really try to get along with our parents as much as we can because you'll realize what you had when they're gone...
Friends are the other most important people in our lives.  We start making friends at a young age and they are the people we turn to when we want to talk about issues we'd rather not talk about with our parents.  We turn to them with our problems and we share the best times of our lives with them.  We wouldn't be very happy people if we didn't have our friends around us.  Could you imagine not having your best friends around you, jokingly insulting your sense of music and having takeaways on those depressing few days after a hard break-up?  I certainly know I couldn't!  We fight and bitch with our friends just like we do with our families.  There isn't a friendship in the world which hasn't had at least one fight.  It isn't a proper friendship in my opinion if you haven't fought over differences a few times.  It's funny looking back with your friends on those funny times when you were young, naive and fought over the stupidest things like fancying the same boy.  Remember everyone; Mates before Dates!
The point of this is to make you think about all the relationships you have with your friends and family.  Value every single one of them and if you feel like you should make more of an effort with some people, go and make those changes because believe me, you'll regret not making that effort if you lost them!
